“I Bought A Dodge Dart Before – But I Bought It For My Mom”
The cleansing
When you get to the point
Where you can wash
Most of the shit off of yourself
And look around – all around
Discoveries of abundance abound
Rich, deep, personal satisfaction
Taken in the facts
This is all yours
Built and maintained
Happy summer
A season for heart attacks
Sweaty eyes and
Undergarments stuck in the ass
Stop trying – do something
When you get to the point
Where you can wash
Most of the shit off of yourself
And look around – all around
Discoveries of abundance abound
Rich, deep, personal satisfaction
Taken in the facts
This is all yours
Built and maintained
Happy summer
A season for heart attacks
Sweaty eyes and
Undergarments stuck in the ass
Stop trying – do something

Once the Voice is Gone
Weary is an understatement
When describing the lows
Once the voice is gone
So is hope -- so is chance
With experience comes nuance
Sophistication earned brutally
When the lights begin to dim
Music fading slowly
I radically accept
The more humbling aspects
Scholar or artist
Monk or whore
When moments are eternities
Lifetimes become instants
The finding is worth the search
If we can survive the ride
When describing the lows
Once the voice is gone
So is hope -- so is chance
With experience comes nuance
Sophistication earned brutally
When the lights begin to dim
Music fading slowly
I radically accept
The more humbling aspects
Scholar or artist
Monk or whore
When moments are eternities
Lifetimes become instants
The finding is worth the search
If we can survive the ride
